Breaking: Texas A&M Shooting Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

A shooting in a residence hall at Texas A&M University-Commerce has left two people dead and one injured on Monday, according to the school on Twitter. The shooting, which took place Monday afternoon, was in the Pride Rock residence hall of the Commerce campus. It’s unknown what condition the injured victim was in at the time of this writing.

The Shooting

The shooting occurred shortly after 1:00 local time at the Commerce campus. The shooter’s identity and motives are currently unknown, but the shooting took place within a residence hall that typically houses freshmen. Following the shooting, the campus locked down the dorm, and everyone on the second floor of the Pride Rock residence hall has been confined to their rooms for their own safety.

Classes for the remainder of the day Monday were immediately cancelled when news of the shooting broke. The Commerce campus of Texas A&M is nearly 200 miles north of the main campus in College Station, making it a very long drive across the state.
