Audio Released of Bernie and Warren Debate Feud, Michael Moore Picks a Side

During footage of the January 14 Democratic debate, Elizabeth Warren can be seen approaching Bernie Sanders, and the interaction doesn’t seem to go well at all. Warren can be seen refusing her fellow candidate’s handshake, and then a frustrated Bernie walks away with his hands up in the air.

Both candidates had their mics turned off, but CNN was able to locate and match audio to the video, revealing what really happened.

What Happened Between Bernie and Warren?

On Tuesday night things got tense between Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Before the debate, Warren had revealed that Bernie told her a woman couldn’t win the White House. Sanders strongly denied the allegation and called the idea “incomprehensible.”

“I didn’t say it,” Sanders said. “I don’t want to waste a whole lot of time on this, because this is what Donald Trump and maybe some of the media want.”

When the debate concluded, Warren was seen walking over to Sanders—but not to congratulate him or shake his hand. Instead, she seemed to avoid his outstretched hand, and the two of them then got involved in a quick, heated exchange.

CNN’s microphones revealed what really happened.

‘You called me a liar on national TV’

The audio obtained by CNN revealed the following exchange between Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren after they were seen quarreling:

Warren: “I think you called me a liar on national TV.”

Sanders: “What?”

Warren: “I think you called me a liar on national TV,” she repeated.

Sanders: “You know, let’s not do it right now. If you want to have that discussion, we’ll have that discussion.”

Warren: “Anytime.”

Sanders: “You called me a liar. You told me—all right, let’s not do it now.”

While this conversation was happening, Democratic candidate Tom Steyer was seen backing away, saying, “I don’t want to get in the middle. I just want to say hi, Bernie.”

So far, neither the Sanders campaign nor the Warren campaign have responded to requests for comment.

Michael Moore Chooses a Side in the Bernie/Warren Feud

Michael Moore, who has previously endorsed Sanders, offered his thoughts on the matter. On Twitter, he said, “Elizabeth & Bernie have appeared in my films. I love them both. Why Elizabeth chose to stick a knife in Bernie’s back is beyond me. At a time when job #1 is to remove Trump, how did this help?”

During his latest podcast, titled, “The Sad Downfall of Elizabeth Warren,” Moore elaborated on how the turn of events made him feel. He said that when he first heard CNN’s report that he felt “paralyzed,” and said he believes the claim made against Sanders was a “malicious lie.”
