Violence at Popeyes Restaurants Becoming a Big Problem

People are getting knuckle sandwiches instead of chicken sandwiches lately at Popeyes, which has recently brought back their Internet Famous fried chicken sandwich.

The worst incident was last week when a man was stabbed by another patron after he thought that skipping the line to get his chicken sandwich fix was a good idea. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

What is Popeyes going to do about this outbreak of violence, and is it safe for the average person just looking for some fried chicken delicious-ness?

Popeyes Employee Body-Slams Customer This Week

News out of Columbia, Tennessee regarding Popeyes is getting serious. This week, a customer caught footage of what appears to be a Popeyes employee body-slamming a customer WWE-style in the parking lot.

According to multiple witnesses, the customer was a 55-year-old woman, Debra Staggs, who was eating at the restaurant when the incident took place. Staggs took issue with her bill, and when the store wouldn’t adjust it to her liking, starting yelling at the employees and using racial slurs.

After several employees asked her to leave, they followed her out to the parking lot. In one video, you can hear an employee tell her that she was “in the wrong place” to use the terms she was using.

Then, a male employee can be seen lifting Staggs up and slamming her onto the ground.

Deriance Hughes, 29, was charged with felony aggravated assault for his part in the attack. Hughes is still in the hospital according to her attorney and suffered six cracked ribs, nine fractures throughout her body, and a broken knee.

This isn’t even going into the video that was taken last week of a woman being sucker-punched in the face after an argument erupted in line in Nashville, Tennessee while waiting to order.

If It’s Not Violence That Gets You at Popeyes, It’s the Hep-A

It’s not just the violence that you have to worry about when you walk into a Popeyes anymore, apparently. Just last week we reported that there was a potential Hepatitis A outbreak in a Washington location of this Cajun fast food restaurant.

In Kentucky at the beginning of April, a worker for Popeyes was diagnosed with Hep-A as well, as officials warned that anyone who ate there within a three-week period could have also gotten infected.

Popeyes might be winning the fried chicken sandwich war between the fast-food chicken giants… but at what cost? Is it really worth it?
