‘The Rock’ Cancels Honeymoon to Support Kevin Hart

After Kevin Hart suffered serious back injuries in a car accident, his friend and frequent co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson chose to fly back from his honeymoon in Kauai to help his buddy out. If that’s not true friendship, we don’t know what is.

Honeymoon in Kauai

Until he heard the news of Hart’s injuries, Johnson was in Kauai on his honeymoon with longtime sweetheart Lauren Hashian. The idyllic and peaceful trip was disrupted, however, when the news broke that Kevin Hart, a frequent collaborator and close friend of Johnson’s, was in a car accident on Mulholland Highway early Sunday morning.

The Accident

According to those on the scene, Hart suffered serious back injuries when the car rolled and pinned him and the driver between the roof and the seats. Emergency responders had to cut the roof from the vehicle in order to save them. A third passenger wasn’t injured, though the driver and Hart both required medical attention.

Following the accident, Hart had to go into surgery on his back. According to people close to him, he’s “doing fine” now, and will just need to recover. We’re quite happy to hear that Mr. Hart will be alright, though he will be missing several of his scheduled appearances. Case in point? He couldn’t make the filming of the brand-new Kelly Clarkson Show.

The Rock Steps in

In order to help Hart out, Johnson flew back in from Kauai to cover his friend’s scheduled appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show. On Twitter, Johnson wrote: “When my son Kevin Hart goes down with an injury, his big daddy steps in. I did leave my honeymoon early (Lauren approved cos she LOVES Kelly) and now me and Kelly are new best friends. Tune in this Monday! We had the best time!”

The tweet included a clip of the pro-wrestler turned actor speaking on Clarkson’s new talk show. The host gives The Rock huge props for stepping up for his friend in the clip. The new series airs Monday, so if you’d like to see more about this story, make sure you catch The Rock on the Kelly Clarkson Show.
