The Vampire Lestat is Making His Return

Well, it looks like it’s Lestat’s time to return from the grave, with a remake of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire, slated to hit the small screen with a TV series on Hulu.

The original film that hit theaters in 1994 was based on Rice’s 1976 novel that shares the same name, which was part of her wildly successful series of books, The Vampire Chronicles. The film saw a lot of success, picking up tons of praise from critics, and bringing in over $223.7 million across the globe.

The movie featured a star-studded cast, with Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea, and Brad Pitt. But it also featured the legendary actor Tom Cruise as none other than the vampire Lestat himself.

Those are certainly some big shoes to fill, so who could be the next Lestat de Lioncourt?

Who Can Fill the Role of Lestat?

Anne Rice herself has asked fans on Facebook many times for recommendations on who should take over the role of Lestat, and fans have certainly given her some options. But it seems like the fan-favorite is Australian actor Cody Fern, who stars as the Antichrist Michael Langdon in American Horror Story: Apocalypse.

There is no doubt that this actor has the right look for the part. He certainly has an overpowering iciness about him, and a jawline to die for.

Other notable fan favorites are Eamon Farren, from the 2017 Twin Peaks reboot, and Jamie Campbell-Bower, who has already cut his teeth playing a vampire on the big screen as Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The TV series, which has been picked up by Hulu, will feature none other than Anne Rice herself as executive producer, along with her son, Christopher.

Hannibal and American Gods showrunner Bryan Fuller was initially involved with the project, but he has since left the production.
